X-ring cord
X-cord is extruded elastomer with an x-shaped cross-section. Compared to seals made of round cord, this profile has greater stability in dynamic application, as the x-profile does not tend to roll in the groove.

With X-cord, a double-acting four-lip seal can be made with an X-shaped cross-section. The seal of X-cord obtains its sealing function by installation and compression in an axial or radial installation chamber. The sealing function is enhanced by the medium pressure.
Special features
Optimal sealing function through improved pressure distribution
Require low radial preload, resulting in lower friction
No adverse influence by fleece, as the seal is positioned between the sealing lips
Great stability in dynamic application, as the X-ring does not tend to roll in the groove
Applications
The starting material for making X-rings
The seal serves, for example, as radial and axial sealing of lids, bushings and flanges or as sealing of piston and piston rod, rotating shafts and covered screw movements
Seals made of X-cord are mainly used for dynamic applications because they require less pretensioning than O-rings and thus produce less friction.
Also often used for static applications and for reciprocating movements.
